  4. This program, SETUP.EXE, performs the following functions:
  5.  
  6. 1.  Copies all necessary program components to the
  7.     directory of your choice, and sets up necessary 
  8.     sub directories for the program's proper operation.
  9.  
  10. 2.  Asks you to select whether you wish to use
  11.     WinNET Communications as your Internet/Usenet provider, 
  12.     or an alternate service provider.
  13.  
  14. 3.  Asks you to specify your local time zone in relation
  15.     to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
  16.  
  17. 4.  If you selected WinNET Communications as your Internet/
  18.     Usenet provider:
  19.  
  20.     Asks for your name and asks you to choose a System Name 
  21.     and a E-Mail Name that will be used to create your
  22.     Internet mailing address.  For instance, if you choose: 
  23.     
  24.                    E-Mail Name: smith
  25.                    System Name: eagle
  26.  
  27.     your Internet mailing address would become:
  28.  
  29.                 smith@eagle.win.net
  30.  
  31.     Or, if you selected an alternate provider:
  32.  
  33.     Asks you for the user name, system name, login
  34.     password, and remote system name (server machine
  35.     name) provided to you by your network access 
  36.     provider for your account with them.  You should have
  37.     this information available before continuing further
  38.     with setup.

  40. 5.  Asks you to provide the information necessary for
  41.     WinNET Mail to talk with your modem.  If you are not
  42.     using WinNET Communications as your Internet/Usenet
  43.     provider, you will also need to supply the telephone
  44.     number of your service provider's system.
  45.  
  46. 6.  Installs all program files.
  47.  
  48. 7.  If you selected WinNET Communications as your Internet
  49.     service provider, the program will proceed to automatically
  50.     setup your Internet account on the WinNET server.  This
  51.     permits you to use your WinNET Mail system in a matter of
  52.     minutes.

  54.     This part of the program proceeds in three steps:
  55.  
  56.         A.  Mailing Address Information is requested.  This includes
  57.             your Name, Address, and Telephone numbers.
  58.  
  59.             Billing Information is requested.  Automatic
  60.             registration can only occur for Credit Card payers. 
  61.             Please see TERMS.TXT or press the TERMS button on 
  62.             the Billing Information screen for full Terms and
  63.             Conditions of your WinNET account.

  65.         B.  With all of the necessary information provided, this
  66.             program will then attempt to connect to the WinNET
  67.             server using your modem with the Communications
  68.             Parameters you provided during setup. 
  69.  
  70.             If there is a problem at this step, it is most likely
  71.             due to Communications Parameters settings.  See the
  72.             TROUBLE.TXT file for more information. 
  73.  
  74.             If successful, this program will transfer your account
  75.             request with Mailing and Billing information to the
  76.             WinNET server.  It will hang-up after the transfer.
  77.  
  78.         C.  This program will then pause for about one minute as it
  79.             gives the WinNET server time to validate and establish
  80.             your account.

  82.             After one minute, this program calls the WinNET server
  83.             again to verify successful set up.  If successful, you
  84.             will receive introductory mail from the WinNET server. 
  85.  
  86. 8.  Creates a new Program Group (window) to hold the
  87.     programs (icons) for WinNET programs.  The six
  88.     programs are:
  89.  
  90.         A.  WinNET Mail -- The main program that you will
  91.             run daily to send and receive mail. 
  92.  
  93.         B.  Call Server -- The communications program that you
  94.             can run directly when you want to send or
  95.             receive your mail immediately. 
  96.  
  97.         C.  Scheduler -- A background program that
  98.             schedules communications calls for any time of
  99.             the day or night.  You can include this program
  100.             in you StartUp Program group or on the LOAD=
  101.             line in your WIN.INI file. 
  102.  
  103.         D.  WinNET Setup -- This setup program which
  104.             you may re-run in the future to adjust
  105.             communications settings.
  106.             
  107.         E.  Queue Editor --  This program is used to view mail
  108.             in the outgoing queue and to delete, recycle, or modify
  109.             the To: and CC: address. 
  110.  
  111.         F.  News Cleanup --  This program removes or archives news 
  112.             articles from your news folders.
